Education: Faculty of Law, St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, summa cum laude (1978).
Internship at the Sofia City Court (1979); Research Fellow (1980-1990) and since 1990 - Senior Research Fellow of civil law at the Institute for Legal Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences; Visiting Professor at the American University School of Law, Washington D.C. (1993); since 1994 - Professor of civil law at Paisyi Hilendarski University of Plovdiv. PhD dissertation: Specific Contract Obligations Performance in Bulgarian Civil Law (1985). Dr.Sc. dissertation: Negotiations for the Formation of Contract and Pre-contractual Liability (2006). Specializations in Moscow, London, Florence. Author of 5 monographs, one of them published by Kluwer Law International, And of over fifty publications on law of obligations, civil law, commercial law, comparative law and history of law. Editor-in-chief (1999) of the Pravna misal legal journal. Acting director of the Institute for Legal Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (2006). Member of the Governing Council of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1996-2006).
Secretary of the Legal Commission of the Higher Attestation Commission (2004-2006). Legal expert at the Constitution Drafting Committee at the Grand National Assembly (1991); member of the Legislation Drafting Council at the XXXVII National Assembly, XXXIX National Assembly and the XL National Assembly. Elected Constitutional Court Justice by the XL National Assembly (2006).
