Date and place of birth: November 18, 1940, Sofia.

Education: Faculty of Law, St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia (1963). Law practiced as a judge and legal adviser until 1975. Full-time Assistant Professor in civil law at St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, (1975); Chief Assistant (1978); Associate Professor in civil and family law (1987); Professor (1995). PhD in law (1975); Dr.Sc. in law (2001). Corresponding member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (2008).

Lecturing activity in all civil law disciplines. Professor at St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, Paisiy Hilendarski University of Plovdiv, University of National and World Economy (UNWE) and at the New Bulgarian University.

Specialization courses at universities in Warsaw, Saint Petersburg and Nancy. Author of over 130 scholarly publications. Leader of the international Parliamentary Internship Programme during the XXXVIII and the XXXIX National Assembly (2000-2004). Member of the General Assembly (1985-2007) and of the Control Council of St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia (1999-2005). Member of the Faculty Council of the Law Faculty (1987-2007). Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law at St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia for two terms of office (1987-1992). Head of the Civil Law Studies Department at the Faculty of Law at Paisy Hilendarski University of Plovdiv (1991-1995).

Member of the Managing Board and Deputy Chairperson of the National Science Fund (Council) (1992- 2004). Member of the Expert Law Council at the Higher Attestation Commission (since 1991), also its Chairperson (1998-2003). Scientific Secretary General of the Higher Attestation Commission at the Council of Ministers for two terms of office (2003-2009). Arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Director of the Civil Law division of the Consultative Council on Legislation at the XXXIX and the XL National Assembly.

Elected Constitutional Court Justice by the XLI National Assembly (2009).
