Desislava Atanasova
Born on October 8, 1978 in Dulovo. In 2001, she graduated from the Law Faculty of the University of National and World Economy. In 2009, she obtained a master's degree in Political Science and Diplomacy at the University of Veliko Tarnovo "St. St. Cyril and Methodius", where in 2011 she finished her studies as part of the Master's program in European Integration.
Judicial candidate in 2002. Legal Counsel at RDMDIU - Ruse Ltd. (2005-2007). Legal Counsel at MHAT - Ruse JSC and Municipal Councillor at the Municipal Council - Ruse (2007-2009). Chairwoman of the Committee on Legality, Public Order and Security and member of the Committee on Territorial and Settlement Planning. Registered as a lawyer with the Ruse Bar Association in 2011. From 2009 to 2012, she was a National Representative in the 41st National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria and a member of the Committee on Legal Affairs. Member (2009-2010) and Chairwoman (2010-2012) of the Health Committee. Minister of Health (2012-2013). From 2013 to 2024, she was a National Representative in eight consecutive legislatures from the 42nd to the 49th National Assembly. Member of the Health and Legal Affairs Committees (2013-2014). Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee on Legal Affairs and member of the Committee on Foreign Policy (2014-2021). Head (2014-2022), Deputy Head (2022-2023) and Member (2023-2024) of the parliamentary delegation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Chairwoman of a parliamentary group (2021-2024). Member (2021, 2022-2024) and Chairwoman (2021-2022) of the Commission for Control over the Security Services, the Application and Use of Special Intelligence Means and Access to Data under the ЕСА. Member of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Chairwoman of the Committee on Internal Security and Public Order (2023-2024).
Elected as a judge in the Constitutional Court by the 49th National Assembly (2024).
