Vasil Gotsev

Date and place of birth: July 21,1929, Sofia.

Education: School of Law with the Sveti Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia (1951). Lawyer in Pernik (1953-1961) and in Sofia (1961). Reader in civil law at the School of Law (1986). Adviser on civil law at the Legislation Council (1987-1989). MP from the Union of Democratic Forces at the 36th, 37th and 38th National Assembly.

Deputy Chairman of the Interparliamentary Union and head of the Bulgarian Interparliamentary Delegation (1992-1994). Member of the Bulgarian Delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and Deputy Chairman of the European People's Party fraction at the Council of Europe (1992-1997). Minister of Justice and European Legal Integration (1997-1999). Deputy Chairman of the European Matters Council with the National Assembly (2000). Member of the Arbitration Court with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Monographs and publications in periodicals on civil substantive and procedural law. Elected Constitutional Court justice by the National Assembly (2000).
