On the initiative of the Bulgarian Constitutional Court and with the corroboration of the North Macedonian Constitutional Court, a Balkan Constitutional Forum will be established in Sofia in October as a continuation of the good cooperation between the constitutional courts of the neighbouring Balkan countries. The Forum will be a venue for exchange of good practices, ideas and experience in constitutional justice between the member jurisdictions of the Forum through the organisation of conferences and other events in the field of constitutional justice.
The first annual meeting of the Balkan Constitutional Forum will be held on 27 October at the Grand Hotel Millennium in Sofia. Representatives of the constitutional jurisdictions of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Romania, North Macedonia, Turkey and Montenegro will participate in the event.
Particular attention is being paid to the initiative by the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Commission – for the event on 27 October in Sofia and the opening of the forum Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, Marko Bošnjak, Vice-President of the European Court of Human Rights and Věra Jourová – Vice-President of the European Commission are kindly attending.
Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel and Minister of Justice Atanas Slavov will address the Forum.
